TARAXAKT WOOL, HIDE, SHEEFSKIN AND TALLOW SALE. L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. On Tuesday, November 22, we sold our monthly catalogue of hides, skins, tallow, etc. Hides showed am advance in some weights, this applying more particularly to heavy cow and good medium to heavy ox. Light cows sold at about last month's rates. Sheepskins declined about y 2 d per lb for dry and about Id for salted. We had a- representative catalogue of bale and bag wool, which, with the exception of one bale, we cleared at what we considered very satisfactory prices. Tallow sold at last month's rate's for similar quality. We quote:— Hides—Ox, butchers', no stout offered; heavy ordinary 7%d, medium 7y 4 d to 7%d, lighted to 7Vid; second quality, •medium 6%d to 7d, light 5%d to 6%d; settlers', 'medium 6%d, light 6y B d, cut ad to Oy 2 dl; cow, butchers' heavy G%d to 7V B d, medium 6y ? d to 7d, light 6% to G%d; second quality, heavy to 6%d, medium 5 3 / 4 d to 6%d, light 5%d to 6d; settlers', heavy <3y 4 d to 6%d, medium] ay 4 d to Oy B d, light 5d to 5%, cut 4%d; yearling, 6%d to 7%d, slippy and damaged l%d to 4d; 'horse, Is to 6s 9d (according to get up). Calves': Heavy 9y 2 d, ordinary B%d to 9y 4 d, slippy 4d to 6d, cut oy 4 d; no bulls' or stags' offered. Wool—Bales, medium crossbred 8y 2 d (three lots sold), coarse crossbred 7y 2 d to Bd, part matted 7y 4 d to 7 ] / 2 d; bags, fine crossbred Sd to 8y 4 d, medium 7d to 7y 2 d, coarse 6y 2 d to 6%d, matted 5y 2 d to eVid, black 6y 2 d, dead wool 7d, crutchings and pieces (mixed) Id to 4d, pieces 3d to 4>/ 2 d.
Sheepskins—We had only a small offering of full-woolled butchers' skins. Butchers', suitable for export, 7%d to 7%d, coarse 6y 2 d to ordinary 5y 2 d to 6%d; butchers' sound 7s 2d to 7s Bd, damp lines 6s lOd to 7s 2d; settlers' 4s 4d to Gs 6d; salted, small 5s 8d to 6s 3d, big spread 6s lOd to Ss Id; lambs', dry Is 7d to 2s 2d, salted Is 4d to Is Gd; pelts, salted Is 2d to Is 6d. Tallow—Medium (six casks), 29s 3d; tins, 255. Sundries—Bones £4, tails Is 6d doz., horsehair (small lot mixed), Is. Our next sale will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 1910. The following \is the High Commissioner's cable .under date London, December 3:—
Mutton. The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. River Plate mutton is in large supply. The stock of New Zealand mutton on hand is light and firmly held in few. hands on account of small shipments expected. Quotations: Canterbury 4%d, North Island 4d, River Plate 3%d, Lamb—The market is steady owing to local demand. Buyers are not inclined to make forward purchases of lamb at present prices, as arrivals are likely to be heavy. Australian 5%d. Beef.—The market is weak. Supplies of River Plate beef are heavv., New Zealand hinds 3%d, fores 2,% d/ Butter.—The market is quiet but steady for best quality only. The market is weak and inactive for secondclass quality. Choicest New Zealand 112s, Australian 108s, Danish 117s, Siberian 103s. Cheese.—There is better demand, and the market is steady. Colored 575, white 565. Hemp.—The market as flat, and there is nothing whatever doing. New Zealand good fair on spot per ton £22, fair ,g,rade £2l 10s, fair current Manila £l9 10s. Forward shipment about the same. The output from Manila for the week was 23,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed.—The market is quiet, but holders are firm. Bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171b per bushel, 74s per cwt. Wool.—The market is steady, and prices well maintained.
