The attendance was good. . The South Africans continued on a good wicket. The scoring was slow, the first half-hour providing only nine runs. After lunch the batsmen quickened tine pace, and at 3.30 the innings was declared closed. The Australians' bowling and fielding were excellent, and they also batted splendidly in the second innings, Marshall giving a magnificent display in a chanceless innings. He played the i bowlers with ease, and passed the cen- '. tury amid wild enthusiasm. Kortlang played delightful cricket.- Time expired, leaving Australia 70 runs behind, and the match was drawn. Hill 25, Hewer 30, and Chamberlain 23, were the chief scorers. Kellewa7 bowled six for 72. Clem Hill batted for 186 minutes, and hit 21 fours; Roy Hill was at the wickets for 112 minutes, and hit twenty-one fours. New South Wales, in the second innings, lost two wickets for 62.
