A BOOKMAKER FINED. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day John Cyril Weller, a bookmaker and billiardroom proprietor, of Foxton, was fined £lO for betting with an infant, and; £lO for laying tote odds. '• NAPIER MUNICIPAL ENTERPRISE. Napier, Last Night. The Napier Borough Council, at a special meeting to-night, accepted the offer of Mrs. Randall, at £6500, of a theatre site. The property is 2% acres in extent, and is situate in tha heart of the town. ATHLETICS. Wellington, Last Night At a meeting of the New Zealand Athletic Council to-night, it was decided that an appeal in connection with D. Wilson's three-mile record be forwarded to the Australasian Union. THE DUNEDIN HOSPITAL. Dunedin, Last Night. A special meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held to-night to consider Dr. Valintine's report and Miss McLean's recommendations with respect to the conditions at the hospital. A letter was received from the junior medical officer, expressing regret for his action in allowing a Press reporter admission to the hospital recently to make enquiries regarding the management. His explanation was accepted, the hope being expressed that he would in future recognise the responsibilities attaching to hi 3 position. The case of the nurse who is under suspension for furnishing information to the reporter, was referred to the hospital committee for a report, as also were the other matters concerned in the report from Dr. Valintine and Miss MacLean.
