AMUSEMENTS.
"MR. PREEDY AND THE COUNTESS." There should be a cordial welcome awaiting Mir. Geo. Willoughby and his English farcical comedy company, who will be introduced to New Plymouth playgoers on Boxing Night by Messrs Rupert Clarke and Clyde Meynell, in "Mr. Preedy and the Countess." This farcecomedy was purchased in London by Mr. Willoughby, on the strength of its phenomenal success-nit ran for over a year ■without a break at Criterion Theatre—and when recently staged for the first time in Australia, at the Melbourne Princess, the piece fully justified its reputation. It was immediately successful and drew from all sections of the press eulogistic notices'] At present- it is drawing -crowded, houses in Auckland. The arrangements made preclude all possibility of "Mr. Preedy and the Countess" being presented more than on the one night named. According to one Melbourne paper, "Nothing half so funny as 'Mr. Preedy and the Countess' has ever heen seen in Melbourne. There need be no doubt about this because all the leading critics have gone in raptures over it." The cast of characters for the forthcoming production is as follows: —Earl of Rushmere, Hugh C. Buckler; Lord Kinslow, Harry Overton; Hon. Robert Jenne•way, Harold Parkes; John Bounsall (partner in the Bounsall Emporium), George Willoughby; Hamilton Preedy (partner in the Bounsall Emporium), David James; Mr. Sidgra've, Leopold Stash; Reginald Saunders, Arthur Cornell; Bilson (Preedy's manservant), Harry Hally; chauffeur, Reginald Fry; Johanna, Countes9 of Rushmere, Beatrice Day; Mrs. Sidgrave, Nellie Mortyne; Harriet Budgen, Amy Willard.
