A BICYCYLE ACCIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Cliristehurch, Saturday Wight Whilst taking part in "the Press" bicycle race to-day, the fork of A. Whitmore's machine broken and he was thrown on to the road on his forehead, and was severely cut. O'CONNOR'S LAST BOUT. Cliristehurch, Saturday Night. The body of a well-known character, named Patrick O'Connor, was discovered by two high school boys at an early hour this morning, lying dead face downwards in three feet of water in the river Avon. There was a small cut on the left eye, probably caused through falling, ffhe deceased, according to the police reports, went out last night on a drinking bout with another man, and it is thought that most likely he fell in the river when drunk. Deceased leaves a widow and a family of twenty-three children. DROWNED IN THE HARBOR. Auckland, Last Night. A man named John F. Schaffer, who resides at Hobsonville, was drowned in the harbor on Saturday night. He fell off the Nbrthcote ferry pier at the city, and apparently struck the wharf in falling.
