HOMING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The New Plymouth Homing Pigeon Cluib flew its champion race on the North route this week, the Sceptre challenge trophy, which has to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals before becoming the property of a member, going to the winner. Six members competed in the event, each forwarding one bird, and * these were liberated at intervals of ten minutes. The weather at the time of liberation was very unfavorable in the Auckland district, and consequently the times recarded .were not so fast as they would otherwise liaive been. The winner, E. Waird's Surprise, flew the distance in 71ivs 42min, and V. H. Beal's Antarctic was second, occupying lOhrs 30min. These were the only birds to Ihome on the day of liberation.
