A WAIRAKAPA WHIRLWIND. Masterton, Wednesday. An unusual phenomenon occurred in the northern portion of the town yesterday afternoon, when a whirlwind from the north swept along the bank of the Waipoua River, encountering a number of men and horses working on the main road. Articles of clothing, horses' nosebags, small stones and branches of trees were whirled high in the air, while the water was churned up to a height of several feet. The ground this morning was strewn with debris.
