AMUSEMENTS.
THE CALEDONIANS. A bumper house should be the welcome to tlie Caledonian Entertainers who open a two nights' season in the Theatre Royal on Show nights, next Wednesday and Thursday. After a very successful tour of the South Island Mr. Willis has consented to tour the North Island again. His company is far above the average as he has spared no expense to secure the best artists available. The following is an extract from the Timaru Herald: —The good impression made by the Caledonia»s on their previous visit was further maintained by the excellent programme which they submitted on Saturday evening. Mr. Colin Campbell, the possessor of a pleasing tenor voice, quite captured his audience by his splendid singing of "Loch Lomond." As an encore number, Mr. Campbell gave "Killarney" with marked success. Miss Cissie O'Keefe, the contralto, was fairly successful an her numbers "Jessie's Dream," and "My Ain Folk," the lastnamed being encored. Mr. Jock Willis, the inimitable comedian of the company, is still as humorous as ever, and he received a very hearty reception on his reappearance. His contributions to the programme, "Turn Over' and "Certainly Not," were doubly encored, and by special request he gave "Fu' the Noo." As a relief from the comic element Mr. Willis sang "The Deathless Army," Ins fine voice being heard to conspicuous advantage. The audience loudly demanded an encore, and a repeat of the ilast verse was given. The dancing is a very strong feature.
