Leader of the Opposition, declared that the policy of the Conservatives was, if in power, to find the exact situation of the Motherland's naval defence, and to act accordingly, with a view to aiding Britain. Provided Canadians endorsed that course, a permanent policy ought to be' laid before the country for decision. Sir F. W. Borden moved an amendment to the Address, regretting the Government's unwillingness to consult the people regarding the navy. ALLEGED SLIGHT OF THE POPE'S REPRESEXTATIVE. Ottawa, Xovember 25. In the Senate, a motion was adopted for the production of correspondence as to why a.guard of honor was not furnished to Cardinal Vanutelli at the Eucharistic Congress at Quebec in September. The Government was criticised by French-Canadians for not honoring the Pope's representative. A CHALLEXGE TO THE PREMIER. Received 27, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, Xovember 22. The Oppositionists challenge Sir Wilfrid Laurier to create a vacancy in Western Canada, with the object "of testing if public opinion supports the Federal administration.
