STRATFORD DAY BY DAY
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Stratford, Last Sight. I hear that Dr. Carbery has sent in his resignation as assistant surgeon at the local hospital. A match was played on the local howling green yesterday between the smokers and non-smokers, when the admirer? of Ny Lady Nicotine were defeated. In two rinks they succeeded in gaining the lead, but on the third the non-smokers were able to gain such a majority as to give them a victory in the aggregate. • The potato blight has made its appearance in the local gardens. The Stratford County Council has decided to provide half the estimated cost of widening Flint road to the Show Ground, if the borough will find th# other half.
A special meeting of the Stratford Hospital Board is hem? held to-morrow. Dr. Paget left for Wellington by thin morning's mail train, where he will mee* his brother. Dr. Hall is acting as Ms locum tenens.
