ATHLETIC. The Athletic seniors secured their first win yesterday. On the Recreation Grounds they disposed of Waitara for 25 runs, and ori going in to hat knocked up 124. In the second innings the visitors had six wickets down for 59 when stumps were drawn at 6 o'clock. In the first innings of Waitara Egglestone was responsible for 15 out of the 25. Bevan was very destructive with the ball, getting six" wickets for 12 runs. For Athletic, Bury showed excellent form in compiling his 31, and Gwillim, who for a time was associated with Bury, also played excellently, his score being two more than Bury's." New Plymouth journeyed to Inglewood yesterday and gave the local team a nice afternoon's leather-hunting, putting up the fine total of 290 before they were all disposed of. Towards this total Bowles, 'by fine cricket, scored 121, the first century of the season, before Kinsella found his way to the batsman's stumps. His score included one six and thirteen fours. Nicoll, with 63, and Weston, with 29, were also useful contributors. Others to score double figures were Lash, Williams, Price and Ingram.
