MURDER TRIAL POSTPONED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 24, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, November 24. In the Criminal Court, Senkovitch's trial for the murder of Eismont, the defence being insanity, was postponed till next sittings, to allow counsel to obtain evidence from Russia relative to the mental history of accused's family.
THE MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD. Received 24, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, November 24. In the Merchant Service Guild case, for the claimants, Mr. Lawrence stated that the salaries on Atlantic liners like the Adrianic were: Masters £SOO to £IOOO a year; chief officers, £ls to £2O a month, .with an annual bonus of £SO; first officer, £l4 a month and a £SO bonus; second officer, £l2 a month and £25 bonus; third and fourth officers, £9 a month, and seamen. £4. The coastal trade was less pleasant than on the deep seas. The salaries were far and away less than those of public servants with equal responsibilities.
A YOUNG GIRL'S DEATH. Received 25, 12.10 a.m. Sydney, November 24. An open verdict was returned at the inquest concerning the death of Miss Gibson.
