RIFLE SHOOTING

STRATFORD RIFLE CLUB,v. GUARDS. A team of eight men, representing the Guards, journeyed to Stratford yesterday, and, after a close and enjoyable match, were defeated by the small margin of nine points. The day was fine, and good shooting resulted. Three possibles were put 1 up, one at 200 yards by Rifleman H. Gollop, and one at each 01 the 200 and 500 yards ranges by Private Nicholls. The visitors were, as usual, most hospitably entertained. A return visit is to be paid at an early date, when a long-range match will be fired. Scores were'as follows:

At the Rewa Rewa range the Guards' second team fired a return match against the Waitara Rifles, and'the visitors were defeated. Some good shooting resulted. Lieutenant Beadle put up the fine score of 101. There was one possible obtained by Sergeant' Arnold (Guards) at 500 yards.' The scores were as follow: GUARDS.
