AN ANGRY DEBATE. . By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Ottawa, November 22. The debate on the address-in-reply was stormy. The recent defeat of Sir Wilfrid Lauriers naval policy in the Quebec province was utilised by the Conservatives to attack the administration. Sir Wilfrid Laurier quoted from a pamphlet showing , the horrors of conscription, which had been used by Mr. Drummond in the by-election at Athabasca, and demanded the name of the writer. Mr. Monk. Leader of the Opposition, replied that Sir Wilfrid Laurier should quote the Liberal speaker who declared ! li; t the Canadian navy would be avail•!'!e to pound England if she troubled :Icm.

The speaker was interrupted by cries nf "You lie." followed by confusion. Sir Wilfrid Laurier disclaimed any knowledge of the incident, and declared tint Cam)da was bound to maintain preference to Britain in spite of reciprocity with the United States.
