An old man fell fainting in a city street owing to starvation. DEATH IN THE PULPIT. Perth, November 22. The Rev. Mr. Jackson, while preaching at Xarloop, dropped dead. COMMONWEALTH NAVY CONTRIBUTION. London, November 21. The Telegraph commends the Commonwealth for giving the Mother Land £250,000 towards the fleet, as showing that it realises its responsibility and intends bearing the expenses as well as reaping the credit incidental to possessing and owning a fleet.
COAL MINE FOR THE STATE. Sydney, November 22. The Government has received an offer of the coal rights of 3700 acres of private land, estimated to contain 40,000,000 tons of marketable coal, as a free gift. The name of the gentleman offering it has not been disclosed.
