A correspondent states that the newspapers are angry because TehertkoH and outsiders prevented the Countess seeing her husband. The latter constantly asked for her and dictated numerous messages, believing she was ill at Yasnayiipolyan. AH privately-owned theatres in St. Petersburg arc closed as n .sign of mourning. Astapovo, November 21. Tolstoi's last words were: "There arc millions of people suffering in 1.1 ie world. Why are so many of you around me?"
TRIBUTE FROM TIIK I)I'MA. Received 22, (i.40 p.m. St. Petersburg, November 21. The Duma adjourned after adopting, a resolution expressing a tribute to tinwork of Tolstoi, describing him as the "Glory of mankind." Members on the extreme right opposed the resolution.
