YOUNG GIRL'S SUICIDE.
POISONED BY MATCH-HEAjDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. A seventeen-year-old girl named Miriam Parker died this afternoon as the result of taking match-heads. On Friday morning the girl had a trivial dispute with her, mother, Mrs. Ernest Barnes, as a consequence of which she left the house. She returned about an hour and a half later, and said she had swallowed a box of match-heads. The mother did not believe the story, and the incident was forgotten till Saturday night, when the girl was seized with vomiting. Medical aid was obtained, and the sufferer was taken to a private hospital, where she expired to-day. The girl was very intelligent, and of a cheerful disposition. She was a student of the Girls' College.
