CRICKET

SOUTH AI'TJCA v. NEW SOUTH WALES. VISITORS BATTIXG CAREFULLY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 20, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, November 20. There was another perfect ericke* day for tlit? resumption of the match, and the

attendance was 20,000. Trumper ana Bardsley played pretty cricket. Bardsley scored 70 runs in 09 minutes, and then tipped Yogler to Faulkner in the slips, who held. Trumper a few minutes later tipped Faulkner to Vogler in the same position, after making the same score—a coincidence. Macartney made Ia fair stand, but then wickets fell quickly. Faulkner, who was not successful in the other matches, proved himself on the perfect wicket. Bowling a great variety of "googlies," which seemed to puzzle the Welshmen, he took five for 40, and was undoubtedly the best man on the side. Folkard and Kelleway played splendid cricket, batting freely. Horden got out peculiarly. Emery made a good drive, and ran. Horden stood a yard out of the crease and refused to budge, and was easily run out. Altogether the Australians' batting was much more interesting than the South Africans'. When the latter went in for the second innings they were painfully slow. Strieker and Zulch' opened, and Strieker was at the wickets, for 25 minutes before scoring. Zulch | was little better. The wicket made 53, : but it took nearly an hour. After that, Folkard and Newman started to sho\t| wonderful form with the ball. Wickets, fell quickly, Folkard clean bowling three. The crowd was disappointed when Faulkner was out for one, being' brilliantly caught near the boundary by E. F. Waddy, off Emery. Scores:— NEW SOUTH WALES.
