INGLEWOOD NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Inglewood Croquet Club's team journeyed to Stratford on Thursday afternoon to try conclusions with the Stratford Club. The day was an ideal one, and the lawns were in good condition, so a most enjoyable afternoon waa spent. The match was not completed owing to want of time, three singles and one double being unplayed. Appended are the scores, Stratford being mentioned first: Miss Dingle and Mrs. Munro (28J v. Mesdames liamerton and HawortS (24); Mesdames Dingle and Wake (28) v. Mesdames Jacomb and Rogers (23); Miss Dingle (17) v. Mrs. Hamerton (13); Miss Moore (21) v. Mrs. Orbell (28); Miss Munro (14) v. Mrs. O'Carroll (15); totals, Stratford 108, Inglewood 103. The Presbyterian Concert Company journeyed to Tarata last week, and put a first-class performance before a very fair audience. The excellence of the company's conceart should have drawn a larger house. The school piano has now been purchased, and is nearly free from debt. The ladies who undertook the taek of providing funds are to be congratulated on the success which attended their forts. The committee hopes to wipe off the remaining liability in the near future.

The gymnasium concert is now an accomplished fact, and the public verdic* is that it was even better than was expected, which says much for its excellence. The gymnastic displays were models of precision and accuracy, and reflect great credit on the instructor and also the boys themselves, who, looked very natty in their spotless uniforms. The limelight effects, given gratis Mr. E. J. Frewin, were verystriking. Mr. H. A. Stratford occupied the chair. After the concert the hall was cleared, and dancing was indulged in. I understand the takings were somewhere in the region of £2O. Several consignments of wool havfl already come into Inglewood from the, country.
