SAINTS' DAY HOLIDAYS
REQUEST FOR THEIR ABOLITION. ] By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Saturday. The Parliamentary committee of the Employers' Federation has written to the Minister of Internal Affairs, expressing general approval of the Public Holidays Bill, but sugspstin? that the bank holidays should be still further reduced. It is pointed out that the observance of saints' days, not observed by other portions of the community, is unnecessary, and causes inconvenience to business people. The Federation therefore suggests the deletion from the list of bank holidays of St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day, and St. Andrew's Day.
