THURSDAY COMPETITIONS. SENIOR GRADE. WAITARA v. URENUI. At Urenui yesterday the home team beat Waitara by 34 runs. In Fausett and Blundell, Urenui evidently Ims a tower of strength. The former got five wickets for 22, and the latter three for 21 in the first innings, while Fausett | had the splendid average of five for 9 out of six wickets down for 19 in Waitara's second essay. Southall was the thorn in the side ol New Plymouth on the Recreation grounds. He got six wickets at a cost of 36 runs, which was the main cause of the defeat of New Plymouth. Carrington Road put up 128, of which Lash claimed 60 and Avery 28. New Plymouth replied with 89, Lash (25), Hasell (14) and Price (17) being highest scorers. In their second innings Carrington Road had six wickets down for 144 when stumps were 'drawn. Scores:

INGLEWOOD v. ATHLETIC. | Athletic was not able to make much of a stand against Inglewood. They played only ten men, certainly, but the extras amounted to nine, which left but 15 to make up the total of 24. Inglewood's 113/ included several double figure scores, the highest of which was 24 by D. Clegg.
