THE KAISER'S SERMON.
CROWN AND CRUCIFIX. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 17, 10.55 p.m. Berlin. November 17. The Kaiser, in a speech at a Benedictine monastery, at Beuren, declared that the twentieth century had brought ideas which could only be effectively combatted by the help of religion. He added: "The crown I wear can only give me assurance of success if based on the word and personality of Christ, as the symbol thereof is given in the crucifix to the monastery. You must help to strengthen the religious sense inborn in Germans, and increase their reverence towards the altar and the throne.
