Reports from Lake Monowai district state that wild pigs are particularly plentiful just now thereabouts, and an Invercargill party that went out (says the News) killed a dozen ia an afternoon, one pair of tusks being rather good. The settlers in the district have for some time past been regarding the porkers as a nuisance, and one or two runholders have been offering a royalty of 4d per snout. The result is that over 400 have been killed lately without, however, causing any apparent dimirni' tion in numbers.
