A FIND OF FOSSILS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christehurch. Last Niaht. Mr. R. Speight (Chvistchurch) and Dr. P. Marshall (JJunedin), who have returned to Christehurch after investigating the geology of the Waipara district, report having made a discovery of a rich deposit of fossils, chiefly of molluscs. They found large shells of extinct marine species, the teeth of ah extinct shark, and other remains as yet unclassified. The discovery will have an important bearing on the geological history of New Zealand.
■RAILWAY SUPERANNUATION. Wellington, Last Night. The Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, at their quarterly meeting, passed a resolution protesting against the provision in the Public Service Superannuation Bill reducing the retiring allowance of future members of the railway service from one-sixtieth to oneeightieth part of their annual rate of pay for every year of service.
