HOSPITAL BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday, when there were present: Messrs. I*'. €. Bcllringer (chairman), G. W. Browne, W. €utfield, Ct. Maxwell, M. J. Mcßevnolds, C. Andrews, J. 11. Hi!!, J. Brown, R. Tate, C. O'Sulliva:i and D. H. McDonald. CORRESPONDENCE. Mr. John Jacobs, secretary of the Ot.igo Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, wrote stating that in future the charge for patients admitted to the Dunedin Hospital from the Taranaki Board's district had beeii increased to £1 15s per week. Mr. X. C. Norris, secretary of the North Canterbury Hospital'and Charitable Aid Board, wrote stating that after consultation with the Inspector-General of Hospitals, it had been decided ■ to postpone the conference o: delegates until the first week in June, when it is probable the Government will convene a conference.

Mr. C. Parrington, secretary of the Hawera Hospital and ' Charitable Aid Board, forwarded a cheque for £lO 17s in settlement of accounts between the Boards, and asking for a cheque for £23 Is for a similar reason.;,. The writer stated that there appeared to have been some misunderstanding in regard to the Poki-Mohi account, and it was best to settle the matter in the way suggested. I Mrs. K. A. Kelly, secretary of the' Uruti District Nursing Scheme, forwarded £lO 18s lid, being one-third less amount due for ehsuing quarter, as they had been without the services of a nurse for one month past.

MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT.

Dr. Walker reported that the number of patients admitted to the hospital during the month of October was 30, and 34 had been discharged. There had been one death, and the number oi patients remaining in the hospital at the end of the month was 37. OLD PEOPLE'S HOME! Mrs. Bayly, matron of the 01& People's Home, reported that everything was satisfactory. There had been two' admissions during the month, and one inmate had left the institution. The number of inmates in the home was 24 (28 males and 0 females). GENERAL. The sum of £413 14s 3d, being Government subsidies of £1 Is 3d in the £ j on £339 18s Cd, and 24s in the £ on £43 His, has been placed to the credit of the Board in the Bank of New South Wales by the Paymaster-General. A motion of condolence was passed with Miss Browne, matron, in her recent bereavement.

Accounts amounting to £575 3s 2d were passed for payment. The next meeting of the Board will be held on December 7th.
