MONTHLY MKCTIXG. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held yesterday. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the Ciiair) and Messrs. J. Hesiop, W. M. Kennedy, J. ltattenbury and J. McCluggage. TRANSFERS. The following transfers were approved: A. R. Watkin to J. E. Watkin, sec 2 blk 9, Ngatimaru; W. and P. T. Burgess to P. T. Burgess, sec 19 blk 5, Ngatimaru; Brough and Nix to T. H. Brough. sec 7 blk 3, Aria; 0. Trebes to J. Potroz, sees. 13, 14 and 15, bltk IC, Egmont; G. P. McGregor to J. McGregor, sec 34 blk 9, Mimi. The L T nder-Secretary for Lands advisea that the proposed transfer of sees. 18 and 20, l(i and 02, G4 sub. 1 of 165, and 23, blk 1, Malioe, from W. G. Fargie to A. Coxhead, jun., was not agreed to. G. C. Stevenson to T. Gaynor, sec. 14 blk 5, Ohura.—Refused owing to inability of proposed transferee to reside on the land. T. Henry and A. H. Chard, sec 2 blk 11, Upper Waitara.—Postponed for a month. J. A. Martin to A. J. and E. G. Finnerty, sec 9 blk a, Malioe.—Held over for a month. C. T. and W. H. Marsh to J. G. Buchanan, sec 5 blk 16, Upper Waitara. — Deferred till next meeting. T. C. Fookes, solicitor, applied for one month's extension of time to register transfer C. H., W. J. and A. E. Speck to 0. S. Jackson. —Granted. Malone, Anderson and Johnstone applied for one month's extension of time to complete transfer, R. Johnson to W. J. and F. W. Simpson.—Agreed to. E. J. Gothard applied for extension of time to register transfer G. J. Haggie to E. B. Gothard, sec 10 blk 13, Ohura. —Two months' extension granted. NON-COMPLIANCE. The settlers who had not complied with conditions of lease were dealt with as follows: — W. J. McCoad, sec 1 blk 10, Upper Waitara (residence). —Consideration deferred. Craven and Mcßae, sec 2 blk 1, Ohura (residence). —Three months to reside or transfer. G. Simpson, sec 8 blk 5, Ohura (residence). —Three months to reside or transfer. M. McMahon, sees. 12, 14, 16, blk 9, Mimi (residence). —Mr. McMalion appeared before the Board and explained what had been done with regard to residence.—Explanation considered satisfactory. E. S. von Sturmer, sec 5 blk 3, Waro (residence). —Twelve months' extension granted. W. Beard, sec 1 blk 6, Ohura (improvements). —Six months' extension granted. Stuart and Chase, sec 1 blk 11, Aria (improvements).—Deferred. C. McHaTdie, sec 25 blk 2, Ohura (improvements). —Six months' extension. A. R. Keighley, sec 6 blk 2, and sec 6 and $ blk 5, Aria (improvements).— Six months' extension. E. Old, sec 17 blk 14, Ohura' (improve-ments).—-Six months' extension. O. Old, sees 18 and 19 blk 15, Ohura (improvements). —Six months' extension. E. V. Shaw, sec 8 blk 11, Cape (improvements).—Ranger to verify statements as to improvements effected. GENERAL. The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands advised that the valuation for improvements on sees. 43 and 46, Huiakama, is entirely a matter for the consideration of the Land Board.—Resolved that as, owing to a misunderstanding, part of the buildings was on the road, the valuation was reduced to £IOO, and it now being ascertained that the buildings are all on the section the original valuation of £l4O be adhered to. Also, that in consideration of the land being required by a public body for a public purpose, the original resolution to dispose of the building for £IOO be agreed to. • The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands advised, with regard to improvements on sec. 19 blk 2, Ohura, claimed by A. M. ■Riddell, now holder: of ; sec. 13 blk 12, Aria.—Left in the hands of the Commissioner. A. Schultz waited on the Board and appealed against forfeiture of section 1 blk 15, Ohura. He "stated that an accident had prevented him from effecting improvements in time -to-comply with the requirements.—Resolution of forfeiture to be rescinded, subject to verification, by the ranger, of statement as to improvements effected, and the selector taking up his residence on : the land forthwith. J. Richards applied for lease of sections 1, 2, 8, 9, 27, 33, 61, "65, 66, 79, 80, 90, 96, 97 and 102, town of Tikorangi, comprising 3% acres—The ranger to report. • ~ ! • W. D. Anderson, solicitor, applied on behalf of the Stratford' Borough Council for a piece of Crown Lands to be sold to the Hospital Board, which the latter could exchange for land held by the former—No action taken. The Ohura Co-operative Dairy Factory submitted, for the Board's approval, agreement giving right to- draw water from and lay pipes through sec 4 blk 3, Ohura, occupied by C. A..-Manning-Consent given to agreement. H. T. Twiss, Crown Land? Ranger, reported resuming possession of the following forfeited sections: Sec 2 blk 4,. Mahoe, and sec 10 blk 13, Waro.—Resolved to defer action in regard to the first-mentioned, and to adopt report and re-offer the second section under the optional system. The ranger also reported on sees 86 and 89 blk 10, Pouajtu, and suggested opening them as one holding.—Land to be. re-offered under optional system. The ranger also reported on access to sees 11, 12 and 22, Ngatimaru, held by L. Dobson, who is not resident thereon. —Three months' time to be granted in which the selector must reside or transfer to someone who will do so.
C. Coffin, sec 7 blk 3, Ohura, applied for lease to be issued. —Issued accordingly.
G. W. Murray applied for remission of rent on sec 2 blk 5, Pouatu, on account of want of access.—Request not entertained.
R. U. Harden, sec 9 blk 14, Mahoe, applied to admit a partner who would reside on the land.—Mr. Richardson waited on the Board with Mr. Rentoul, the proposed partner.—Granted, subject to the matter being in order, and conditionally upon the transferee residing on the section forthwith.
C. H. Hope applied, on behalf of himself, C. Hope and B. MacFarlane, for consideration re application to purchase freehold to be deferred to December meeting.—Resolved accordingly. A copy of the proclamation of Waitanjratn road deviation was laid on the table.—Titles to be amended accordingly. The AVhangamomona Countv Coiricil Applied for a certificate to pledge thirds from sections in the Mangaowhata road special ratine; district for payment of interest on a loan.—lssued accordingly. E. Tolme. Crown Lands Ranger, re ported on the application of D. Finni.s;an for sec *l4 blk 6. Aria, to improve his fencing line.—Left in the hands ol v the Commissioner.
E. Tolme also reported on the inspection of fifteen holdings (comprising 7749 acres), one being in default for improvements and one for residence —Notice to
be given to those who have not complied with the requirements of the Land Act. H. F. Twiss, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on the inspection of twelve holdings (comprising 4203 acres), eight being in default for improvements, and one in default for residence.—Notice to be served to non-compliers. The Ohura County Council- applied for a lease-of sec 11 blk 9, town of Mangaroa.—Ranger to report. It was resolved to confirm the forfeiture of the interests of W. Smith and J. Sutherland in the Tangitu I.F. Settlement.
