PERSONAL.
Dr. Bennett returned to Blenheim yesterday morning. Mr. L. A. Nolan lias returned from a visit to the Auckland district. Mr. H. S. Fitzherbert, S.M., left by the express yesterday morning to attend the funeral of his late brother-in-law, Mr. Charles J. Holworthy. It is well understood in Dunedin that Mr. H. D. Bedford will be a candidate for Dunedin North at the general election. With the sitting member (Mr. Thomson), Mr. Douglas and Mr. Bedford, this makes three candidates already in the fie>!d. An Auckland message states that the Presbyterian General Assembly accepted as ministers the Revs. Hugh Beggs, Charles Porter and S. A. Randerson from the Methodist Church; also the Rev. Graham Balfour, M.A.. 8.D., from Melbourne, and the Rev. William Rowlands, preacher of the Welsh Church, from Queensland.
