STRATFORD DAY BY DAY
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The first load of wool of the season arrived on Saturday at Stratford, coming from Mrs. Savage's farm, on Stanley road. A man named James Jones appeared at the S.M. Court this morning in answer to the charge of having assaulted and robbed" Mr. W. Blair, senr. The accused, who was arrested at Eltham, was remanded till Friday. Through a heavy pole attached to a harvesting machine falling and striking him on the head, Mr. J. W. Brayshaw received a severe scalp wound, necessitating the insertion of several stitches. Following the gale and dust storm of yesterday came rain to-day, bringing joy to the hearts of the farmers. Rifleman M. Fowler gained a leg-in on Thursday for Hallenstein's trophj' at the weekly competition of the Stratford Rifle Club. A mounted parade of the Stratford Rifles will take place on Thursday.
