ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A MAX DISAPPEARS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Monday. A man, whose name is unknown, a visitor from Wellington, left Cheltenham beach for Rangitoto in a rowing boat on Saturday afternoon. The sea was somewhat choppy. On Sunday morning the boat was found washed ashore, considerably damaged. There was no trace of the occupant. The missing man is described as about thirty years of age, sft 10ft in height, dark complexion, and was wearing dark clothes. A DROWNING FATALITY. Gore, Monday. Dragging operations for the body of Stanley, drowned at Waikawa on Saturday, have been unsuccessful, but will be continued at low water. Deceased is said to have resided at Port Chal*er». This is the first calamity at Waikawa for twenty years. THE OTIRA TUNNEL FATALITY. Greymouth, Last Night. At the inquest on Glen Allan McLean, who was killed by falling over a precipice, a verdict of accidental death was returned.
