WRECK OF A STEAMER.
PASSENGERS ALL SAFE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, Xovember 13. A wooden steamer, the Portland, belonging to the Alaska Coast Company, stranded on an uncharted rock at the mouth of the Katalla river during- a snowstorm. The passengers rushed on deck in night garments. A panic was averted by the coolness of the captain and crew, and the passengers were landed in boats all safe.
