GREYMOUTH COAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. Last week's export of eoal amounted to over 10,000 tons. STONES HALF AN INCH IN DIAMETER. Gore, Last Night. An extraordinary hailstorm occurred at 1.30 o'clofck. Stones half an inch in diameter fell anil the ground was white for a few minutes. The storm had a disastrous effect on the fruit crop, and gardens during the ten minutes it raged. NEXT BAND CONTEST. Pahnerston North, Last Night. The following bands have entered for the N.1.8.8.A. band contest to be held at Palmers ton in February:—A grade: Wanganui, Wellington arid Westport Garrison, Petone Municipal, Thames Brass, Mornington, Ivaikorai, Waihi. Federal, Dunedin and Palmerston North Citizens.' B grade: Gisborne City, Onehunga Municipal, Taranaki Garrison, Opunnke, Wanganui City, Waitara Municipal, Greymouth Battalion, Ashburton Temperance, Marton Junction, Marton and Dannevirke. Entries for the solo competitions are already very large.
