THE SHEARERS' DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Yesterday. The Sheepowners' Union states that if any owners have given less than the award rate, they must have been small owners outside the union. It characterises Mr. Lawry's statement as irresponsible. J. E. McManus, secretary of the Shearers' Union, also denied knowledge as to any impending trouble, and knows of no engagement under £l. The proprietor of a registry office states that he engaged men for twenty stands, and never heard of anything under £l.
| POULTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS. Auckland, Yesterday. At ai meeting of the North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association, it was decided to allot the championships in groups for the 1911 season as follows:—Wellington, White and Brown Leghorns and Minorcas; Carterton, Indian Runner and Pekin Ducks; New Plymouth, Orpingtons; South Taranaki, any other variety group; Auckland, Wyandottes; Newton, pigeons; Auckland Canary Club, canaries; Waikato, game, bantams and any other variety bantams; Hastings, British, Indian and Old English Game.
ALLEGED SHEEP-STEALING. Wairoa, Yesterday. Hugh Marshall, owner of a small grazing run, was arrested on a charge ol having stolen seven sheep, the property of a neighbouring farmer. He was remanded on bail.
