i There are quite a number of special prizes to be won in the cattle classes at the Stratford A. and P. Show. A silver . cup is donated by Mr. J. B. Hine for the : highest number of points scored in the . Shorthorn section. This prize is to be won outright by three successive wins or five times separately. With the cup will be given the Association's gold medal. Mr. J. Petrie donates a €5 5s , trophy, to be given for the highest number of points scored in all cattle classes, , to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. Mr. J. D. Healy has donated £2 2s for the best yearling grade Jersey heifer, from Ist Juiy, 1909, • sired by pedigree Jersey bull. This is a ; juvenile class, and should be the means of creating a good deal of interest amongst boys who have the care of young . Jersey stock. The Association will give a champion gold medal to the best pures bred bull and the best purebred cow, in i the Jersey, Ayrshire, Holstein, Hereford : and Shorthorn pedigree classes, together i with a gold medal for the highest num- . her of points scored in each of the pedigree cattle classes mentioned. Other special prizes are: Mr. R. Dingle's special of £2 lOs for each champion Jersey bull and cow; Mr. E. Jackson's £2 2s for belt grade Jersey heifer under three years; Moumahaki Experimental Farm's £2 10s for best Shorthorn-bred cow or heifer in milk or in calf, showing no trace of Jersey blood; Mr. T. Colson's £1 Is for highest number of points scored in classes 137, 138, and 139 (heifers); 'Ngaere Co-operative Dairy Co.'s £5 as ; for pen of five best heifer calves from Ist July, 1910, for dairy purposes, irrespective of breed, second prize Mr. H. Penn's special of £2 2s, third Mr. A. Coleman's special of £1 Is; Cardiff Dairy Co.'s £5 os for pen of best three grade heifers for dairy, calved since July, 1908, to be 1 either m calf or in milk. Besides the special prizes mentioned there is a large number of good prizes given by the Association, ranging from £1 to £5. A first prize of .£5 ss, second £2 2s, and third £1 Is will be given by the Assoeition for cow, four years and over, in miiK, to be judged on points; cow to be milked in presence of judge at 5 p.m. on first day, and to be judged previous to milking next morning at 8 o'clock. Prizes will be given also for fat stock and numerous other classes. ,
