He declared himself strongly opposed to the alterations of the constitution which would be submitted by the Federal Government to the electors by referendum in March next. If Mr. McGowen would hold out against them he would stand behind Mr. McGowen.

The parties are generally favorable to the measure. but Mr. Cook, while agreeing with penny postage, deplored that the telephone had been made a luxury.
