The weather was glorious and the wicket faster than for Saturday's play. South Australia continued the first innings. Whitty was soon bowled. The whole innings occupied 145 minutes. South Africa opened their second innings with Zulch and Striecker, who began against Whitty and Chamberlain. They batted steadily, but at 21 Zulch was out, leg before. "Sherwell was bashing freely, and Crawford relieved Whitty, beating Sherwell with a yorker at 52. At the luncheon adjournment the total stoo<l at G4, Striecker (22), and Nourse (5) being the batsmen. After lunch, the attendance mounted to 2500. Crawford and Whitty were bowling, and runs came freely. "Nourse at 17 was missed in the slips by Mayne joff Crawford, and the century appeared for 80 minutes' play, and Striecker reached his 50 in 85 minutes. Several changes were tried in the bowling, but the batsmen were hitting freelv, and the third 50 of the total'was notched in 35 I minutes. Striecker. batting finely, with hits all round the wicket, completed his j century in 13S minutes. The second hundred came in the next over, which' was remarkably good going. At tea-1 time the total was 220, of which Striecker had made 111 and Nourse 67. Crawford and Whitty still bowled. After 50 I runs had been added for hnlf-an-hour's i play, the bowling was changed, Wright J and- Chamberlain on? At 204 Striecker was caught by the' third man.' Llewellyn at 9 was missed at
cover by Gehrs ofT Crawford, but was cauglft by Campbell with the score at 357. Xourse. wlio was not out, batted for 312 minutes, giving a good display of steadiness, hitting, and fine defence, and his hits were powerful. He knocked 14 fours. The fielding was fair.
