STRATFORD DAY BY DAY

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Saturday Night. Mr. E. Jackson, secretary of the Stratford A. and P. Association returned last night from Palmerston North, where he had been attending the show. Mr. Jackson, who was on business bent in the interests of his Association, secured a large number of entries from prominent stock breeders.

Mr. M. Mackay, of the staff of the local branch of the Union Bank, has received notice of his transfer to Auckland. Mr. G. Smart has been elected delegate for the local club to the Taranaki Bowling Association.

The sweepstake shoot organised by the Stratford Gun Club on Thursday was won by M. Fowler, of Toko, H. Campbell corning second, F. Dunlop third, and Pi. Free fourth. In a subsequent eightbird sweep, G. Hunter secured first place. Mr. P. F. Ralfe has resigned the position of secretary to the Stratford Cooperative Store Company. Mr. C. Sanders, of Ngaere, has sold 51 acres of his property to Mr. C. Kenyon. Mr. J. Plitsch, until recently proprietor of the Commercial Hotel in Stratford, has returned from a visit to Victoria, where he purchased the lease of a hotel at Mansfield.
