'GOVERNMENT'S FINANCING SCHEME By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Reecived 6, 5.5 p.m. Lisbon, November 5. The Government proposes to wipe out a deficit of £650,000 by increasing taxation on landed estates and buildings from five to twelve millions this session. On the Civil List the Government proposes to save £IOO,OOO, which will be utilised in abolishing town dues on meat and vegetables. The Government has enforced payment of arrears of taxes amounting to £270,000. Advances to the Royal Family the Government officials estimated at £1,!>00,000, and after payment of the Royal debt, the revenue of the Royal properties will be handed over to exKing Manuel.
