XEWTOX KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. At the llaymarket on Saturday a good number of pigs were penned and prices realised were slighly in advance of previous weeks. Weaners made (is Od tu 9s Cd, stores 14s to 19s, do. small 10s Oil to 13s, porkers 21s to 2Gs. At Urenui on Monday yearling sheers made £-2 19s to £3 Os Cd, yearling lieifers £2 l!)s } empty heifers £3 10s to £3 19s, store cows* £3 12s, forward do. £4 8s to £5, 2y a -year steers £4 17s, 3-year bullocks £5 15s, do. (forward condition) £6 15s, springing cows up to £7 12s Gd, springing heifers £4 5s to £5 2s Cd, bulls £3 'Js Cd to £C 12s Gel, fat and forward ewes and wethers 13s 7d. At Stratford on Tuesday yearling sters made £2 12s to £3 Gs, yearling heifers £2 15s to £3 9s, store cows £o 12s Cd to £4 4s, forward do. £4 Cs to £5, fat do. £5 IGs, empty heifers £3 14s to £4 2s, bulls £2 14s to £4, ewes and lambs £ib 10s. On the same day there was a good yarding of springers, and anything showing quality was well catered for, but ordinary sorts were not so much in demand as of late. Springing heifers, close up and showing quality, made £i to £lO 15s, later do. £5 to £0 i,; , small and backward £4 5s to £4 15s, dairy cows close up and at profit £7 10 £9 15s, later £4 10s to £6 12s Gd. At Stony River on Wednesday there was a full yarding, with good competition, everything yarded, with the exception of two or three lines, being sold at the hammer. Matthews and Bennett report a good yarding of cattle at their lnglowood yards on Wednesday 'last. Bidding was brisk, and prices were quite as good as at previous sales. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Mart.—At our mart on Saturday We had a good entry of poultry, the majority of which, though, were of the poorer class. Tor good birds there is still a good demand. Prices realised as follows: Cockerels (good) 2s Id to 2s lOd, poor Is 9d to 2s, hens (old) .Is ad to Is 9d, young, laying and fat 2s 5d to 2s lOd, chicks (young, in good demand) 5d to lOd, ducklings Sy 3 d to 2s 2d (according to I age and condition), hen and chicks 9s 6d, pullets 2s 4d to 2s lOd, ducks (good) 2s 5d to 2s Sd, poor 2s to 2s 3d. Sundries in mart at usual rates. Fruit—The .supply is now increasing, green peas this week being in large supply? consequent upon good early cro )s and I a drop in prices generally in the larger centres. We anticipate early supplies of tomatoes, etc., this year. The first shipment of strawberries direct from the\ growers reached us on Thursday, and opened in excellent condition We quote this, week:—Strawberries Is 4'/ 3 d to Is s>/,d per lib box, bananas (green) IGs, ripe 3>/4d to 3»/gd per lb, oranges (repacked) 18s to ISs Gd, lemons (local) Os Cd to 7s, smaller cases 3s to 4s 3d, apples (American red Pearmains) 14s to 15s, new shipment 13s to 13s Cd, kumeras 10s to 10s Cd case, pines 8s Gd, poor 5s to Gs 3d, new potatoes 2y,d ft> 3d lb, cocoanuts 13s, walnuts 7s. Vegetables—Green peas lOd, poorer quality Gd, rhubarb 4s, cabbages 3s, cauliflowers Bs, lettuce 4s, turnips '4s. L. A. XOLAX AXD OO.'S REPORT. Poultry.—We had our usual good entry of poultry. Competition was keen for all goyd 'lines. Prices realised were as follows:—Hens 2s 2d to 2s 7d, roosters 2s .to 2s Cd, cockerels 2s 3d to' 2s Gd, ducks 2s to 2s 7d, ducklings 2s 3d, bantams 9d to Is. In the mart a large quantity of vegetable, pot plants and furniture were sold at satisfactory prices. Fruit.—There lias been practically no fruit coming to hand, vegetables 'only arriving in large quantitoes. Heavy shipments of green peas have come forward and the market is glutted at present. New potatoes are arriving in fair quantities and meeting with a good demand. Nolan and Co. report:—On Wednesday, October 2ii, we held our sale of above produce in our Gill-street premises. We offered our usual catalogue to a attendance of buyers, competition being spirited.
