CHARGES OF THEFT.

ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. Yesterday morning Messrs. H. F. Rus- J sell and J. W. Boon, J's.P,, were on the bench, when four charges of theft were preferred against John Charles Seymour, alias Charles Simpkiss. Detective Boddam, who conducted the prosecution, asked for a remand until Thursday next, which was granted. The charges were as follows: That on or about October 28, 1910, at New Plymouth, he did commit theft of a lady's gold watch, gold neck chain, gold pearl and ruby pendant, gold bangle, two 5s pieces, pair lady's shoes, four American gold pieces, dollar pieces, one diamond ring (value £5) and one diamond and sapphire ring (value £10), the property of Elizabeth Faulkner Johnstone. That on October 24 he did commit theft of one night-dress and one petticoat (total value 10s), the property of Catherine Fowler. That on October 21 he did commit theft of one apron (value 2s 6d), the property of Ann Golding. That on October 23 he did commit theft of four pairs of stockings (of the value of 8s), the property of Margaret Watson.
