| After attending the Medical Congress, which was opened by the Duke of Connaught this afternoon, Messrs Fisher and Foivlds went to Government House, where they were specially received by the Duke of Connaught in their capacity of representatives of the Commonwealth and Dominion at the opening of the Union Parliament

AN INVESTITURE. Capetown, November 2. j The Duke of Connaught held an investiture at Government House to-night ,and conferred the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. George on Lord Gladstone, the Grand Cross of the Victorian Order on Lord Methuen, and the knighthood of St. Michael and St. George on Mr. Ernest Kilpin, Secretary of the National Convention.

A NEW GRAVING DOCK OPENED. Received 4, 12.40 a.m. Capetown, November 3. The Duke and Duchess of Connaught and Lord and Lady Gladstone proceeded by train to Simonstown, where the Duke opens the Selborne graving dock, capable of accommodating the largest vessels of the navy, and forming part of the important extension of the Admiralty harbor. Four cruisers saluted the. paTty on arrival.
