COLONIAL REPRESENTATIVES DINE WITH ROYALTIES. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Received 2, 10 p.m. Capetown, November 2. Messrs Fisher, Fowlds and Leniiiux dine at Government House to-night to meet the Duke and Duchess of Connaught PRESENTATION OF MASONIC ADDRESSES.
Received midnight. Capetown, November 2. Reuter states that the Duke and Duchess of Connaught had a heavy list of engagements to-day. This morning, the Duke received addresses at the City Hall from the Masonic brethren of the Constitutions of England, Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands, and also from the South African Grand Lodges. The Duke of Connaught referred to the common brotherhood of Freemasons of every nationality under all circumstances, and said it was most satisfactory to him to learn that lodges in Sonth Africa were prospering. A STIRRING SPECTACLE. Capetown, November 1.
The Duke and Duchess of Connaught, in the afternoon, reviewed 4400 regulars, •volunteers, bluejackets, marines and cadets on Green Point Common in the presence of a huge crowd, who greeted the Royalties most cordially . It was a stirring spectacle. Mr. Fisher was present at Constantia •when the Royal party visited the State wine farm, and subsequently attended the Assembly, which had a short sitting to elect a Speaker. ELECTIONS IX THE SENATE. Capetown, November 1. Mr. Reitz, formerly President of the Orange Free State, lias been elected President of the Senate, and Mr. Molteno, the former Cape Speaker, has been elected Speaker.
