AXXUAL MEETING. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. The r.nnual meeting of the New Zealand institute of JouynaJists "was held to-day, and was largely atended, Mr. C. Kcane (Dominion), president, in the chair. Officers were .elected as follows:—President, Mr. F. J. Earle (Evening Post); vice-presidents, Messrs W. H. Graham (Christchurch), W., J. Penn (New Plymouth), J. J. Grealish (Wellington); secretary, Mr. J. A. Ma-ekay (Wellington); treasurer, Mr. C. L. Gilmour (Wellington) ; auditor, Mr. C. E. Wheeler (Wellington). The constitution was amended to enable journalists in districts where no branches exist to joint the Institute direct. The incoming council was directed to take steps to increase the country membership roll, and devise means of coming into closer touch with all news- ! paper proprietors for mutual benefit. In regard to the unanimous recommendation of the Wellington branch that the headquarters should be removed to Christchurch for the coming year, the Christchurch branch replied expressing appreciation of the Wellington suggestion, but stating it would be inadvisable to transfer the headquarters to Christchurch this year.
