Mr. Hughes, addressing the Dried 'Fruits Conference, assured the members of the sympathy of the Government with the co-operative movement. It was not against combinations as such that the Government was warring, but its intention was to deal with those combines which threatened the community. N.S.W. SECOND BALLOTS. Received 1, 1.15 a.m. Sydney, October 31. Second ballots were necessary in the Durham, Hastings and MacLeay electorates. For the former Brown (Liberal) is leading; and for Hastings. Morton (Independent Libedal) is in front. The Independents have the Labor support.
