CAPTAIN SCOTT'S SOUTH POLE EXPEDITION.

To the Editor. Sir,—lt has occurred to us, knowing the many advantages of oil fuel over coal, that it would be a. graceful act of the Taranaki Petroleum Company to offer to supply Captain Scott, of the "Terra Nova," with a hundred barrels or more of Moturoa oil, to help him on hiway to the South Pole, which we all hope he will reach. We do not know if his ship is equipped with oil-burners: but if not this could easily be arranged before the departure of the ''Terra Nova." We trust that the chairman of the Taranaki Petroleum Co. will communicate with Captain Scott, asking him if he would accept the present.—We are. etc., WATKINS & FOX. New Plymouth, 29/10/10.
