THE HAWERA SHOW One of the most important classes scheduled for the Egmont Agricultural and Pastoral Association's spring show is I that relating to the butter-fat competition. The Association is endeavoring to' make this class popular feature of the( farmers' carnival and offers a first prize i of £8 8s (including New Zealand Loan' and Mercantile Agency Co.'s special of £5 :ss, carrying with it Mr. W. D. Powdrell's special of £3 3s) and a third award of £2 2s. Mr. T. R. Exley has donated a gold me<lal to be presented to the first prize taker. In awarding the prizes the judges will compute the points as follows:—One-tenth point for every lb of milk in four days, and twenty-five points for every lb of butter-fat produced. The cows are to be in the possession of the Association for nine days, the butter-fat test to be made on the last four days, when the milk will be weighed and samples taken of each milking and finally tested. The cows will be kept on good grass under natural conditions (other than optional to rug), with no artificial food whatever. No exhibitor will be allowed in the sheds when milking or testing is being carried out_. including any member or official of the committee who may be an exhibitor. The first six cows placed highest in the test will be on exhibition at the Show on both days. Cows competing in this test are eligible to entered in other classes and will be delivered on the showgrounds by the committee if requested by the owner. Entries close on Thursday, November 3, nt 5 p.m., and cows are to be delivered to the Association on Mr. Tonks' property not later than Monday, November 14, but may be delivered on Saturday, November 12, if desired. The entrance fees are: Members 5s f non-members 10s.
