ESCAPED FROM GAOL
TWO iNVERCARGILL PRISONERS. •Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. Another escape from"lnvercargill gaol occurred this afternoon, when Albert Edward McQueen and Henry Gordon, who had been working in the cement blockmakinj shed at the rear of the gaol, broke awav and made across the North road and "the golf links to Thompson Rush. The bush was beaten, and the escapees were sighted several times, but eluded their pursuers, who gave up the chase when night came on. ' McQueen, who is an Invercargillite, knows the country thoroughly, "and will probably be. hard to catch. He was sentenced at the last Supreme Court sittings here to. seven years' imprisonment for assault with intent. Gordon was sentenced at t'hri.-teliurch to nine months' imprisonment of which period all but two months had been served. The night is a bitter one, with hail and rain showers (almost identical with the conditions on the night of the last escape), and as the escapees have only trousers and singlets on they «ill probably suffer, unless McQueen's local knowledge is turned to good account. Up to a late hour tonight nothing further had been heard of the prisoners.
