A truck of English coal at Poitiers sent via Bordeaux was found to contain a box of six cartridges charged with compressed gunpowder all united by a single fuse. It is stated that the box bears English marks. Thirty-four dynamite cartridges have been found on the railway near Marseilles. CONDEMNED COAL USfeD. Received 24, 0.50 p.m. Poitiers, October 24. It is surmised that the coal wherein the cartridges were found is part of a consignment which the British Admiralty refused, suspecting the presence of blasting powder through carelessness or otherwise.
