CHINA'S AWAKENING
THE DEMAND FOR A PARLIAMENT. By ("able—Press Association—Copyright. Received 25, 12.55 a.m. London, October 24. The Times' Peking correspondent states that all the Viceroys except those of Tientsin and Nanking support the petition demanding a full parliament. The success of the Provincial Assemblies is emphasised. The Assembly was unanimous and enthusiastic, and cheered for "China and the Constitution" for five minutes. It is argued that the official classes are unable to remedy the country's grave situation, and national representatives are urgently needed to control the finances.
