THE KING'S PRIZE. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright. Melbourne, October 2. In the King's Match, Christian (Victoria) and Harrison (New South Wales) tied with 323. Christian won on the shoot-off. Steinhart (Adelaide), 322, was third. The New Zealand team were runnersup to the Parramatta Club in the Colonial Ammunition Company's challenge cup. RIFLES v. KAITAKE. A very enjoyable match was fired on the local range on Saturday afternoon between teams from the Taranaki Rifles and the Ivaitake Rifle Club. Although the wind was irregular while several men were shooting, on the whole the day was favorable for shooting and some good scores were registered. Two possibles were obtained, one at 000 yds by Lieut. Willis and the other at 500 yds by Private Richards. The match resulted in an easy win for the Rifles. The following are the scores:—
RAHOTU CLUB. Shooting for the trophy advanced another stagfl on Saturday, when J. Guyobtained a leg-in. Despite the advent of the milking season interest is still being maintained, and sixteen turned up at the shoot. The conditions were seven shots each at 200 and 300 yds, and some good scores were put up. Detailed scores:—
With about half the season over, matters in connection with the aggregate are in a very interesting position, and it is extremely difficult to prognosticate with any degree of certainty the likely winner. At present there is very little difference between the scores of eight rr ten.
