PILFERING ON THE RAILWAY

THREE MEN ARRESTED AT HAWERA. For some time past there has, it is reported, been a considerable amount oS pilfering at the Hawera railway station. On Friday night, or early on Saturday morning, Constable Flanagan paid a surprise visit to the station buildings, and found three of the railway employees* engaged in opening cases and abstracting goods. Next day search warrants were issued, and the police searched the j domiciles of the three men, who, we are informed, are all married men, and members of different branches of the railway service. A considerable quantity of goods was found at each house, and amongst it were found articles whose loss had been reported, and other plunder of which the police had had no report. The accused will appear at the S.M. Court, Hawera, on summons, next Thursday morning.
